Screen Australia funds online comedies

Stan’s first original series No Activity

Screen Australia is funding two online comedies and a spin-off from Jungle Entertainment’s series No Activity.

We Made a Thing Studios will produce Lucy & DiC (1×60’/8×6’), the tale of a girl and her talking support drone, named DiC, as she looks for simple ways to improve her life.

The project is based on a short film starring Lucy Gransbury and the voice of YouTube personality Ethan Marrell. The first two episodes will premiere at the Adelaide Film Festival next month.

Ruby Entertainment will produce Internment (6×10’), which will follow two girls who are stuck in an internship at a trendy inner-city office where no one does anything or gets paid.

Australian streamer Stan commissioned the previously announced No Activity: The Night Before Christmas, a spin-off from Stan’s first original series.

The one-hour special will reunite the creative team of Patrick Brammall and Trent O’Donnell, who recently filmed the second season of the US remake of No Activity for CBS All Access.

Jungle’s Chloe Rickard will produce the special, which sees the two inept cops (Brammall, Darren Gilshenan) on a stakeout as a disgruntled Santa Claus holds a group of shoppers hostage in a suburban mall. BBC Studios (fka BBC Worldwide) is handling sales for the rest of the world.

The agency announced it would fund four other TV projects but did not name them.
