SBS6 tunes up Talpa music format

SBS6 in the Netherlands is preparing to air a new musical gameshow from sibling company Talpa Content.

Thank You for the Music debuts on Saturday and sees three duos compete in a series of music-related challenges.

Each pair consists of a regular team captain and a celebrity partner who changes each week. If the duo win, they must pick a member from a diverse audience who they think can sing the best, and who then must perform.

The show has been developed by Talpa Content and is produced by Talpa Producties, both part of John De Mol’s Talpa Holding. The premiere is set for 20.30 on June 8.

Talpa Holding completed its deal to take full control of Dutch commercial broadcaster SBS for €237m (US$273m) in 2017, acquiring a 67% stake from Finland’s Sanoma.

Talpa Holding is the holding company for De Mol’s media activities. The company was founded in 2005 and owns Talpa Radio, the largest music entertainment company in the Netherlands, consisting of the channels 538, Radio 10, Sky Radio and Radio Veronica.

The Voice producer Talpa Media, formerly part of Talpa Holding, was acquired by UK commercial broadcaster ITV in 2015.
