SBS Oz cooks up reality show

Australian multicultural pubcaster SBS is preparing a reality show in which home cooks will have the chance to learn from some of the country’s top chefs.

SBS has issued a casting call for people with a demonstrated flair in specialist cuisines, from African to Italian to Vietnamese.

The stipulation is that participants must not derive their main source of income from cooking or preparing food in a professional environment.

“This is an original foodie show that offers a unique opportunity to cook alongside and learn from some of the best chefs in the country,” the broadcaster said.

Successful applicants must be available for two to three days of filming between January and February.

The broadcaster declined to reveal the title and whether the show will be produced in-house or commissioned.

Food is one of SBS’s staple strands, with local shows including Poh &Co, Destination Flavour Scandinavia and Essential Media & Entertainment’s For Love of Meat. Last November the broadcaster launched the Food Network.
