SBS feasts on Gusto’s culinary content

Bonacini’s Italy is fronted by celebrity chef Michael Bonacini

MIPCOM: Australian pubcaster SBS has struck an agreement with Canadian culinary producer and broadcaster Gusto Worldwide Media for more than 40 hours of original food programming.

The deal covers 86 episodes of five different cooking shows which will air down under on SBS Food and SBS On Demand.

The series covered by the deal are One World Kitchen (28×30′), Bonacini’s Italy (15×30′), The Urban Vegetarian (15×30′), The Latin Kitchen (15×30′) and Spencer’s BIG 30 (13×30’).

One World Kitchen is a bright and vibrant cooking series featuring diverse cuisines from around the world. Nine are featured over three seasons, including Argentinian, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Thai, Greek, Lebanese, Chinese and Vietnamese.

Bonacini’s Italy features celebrity chef Michael Bonacini cooking diverse Italian fare. Set in a contemporary kitchen, Michael explores 15 different regions of Italy by preparing dishes unique to each local tradition.

The Urban Vegetarian is hosted by Desiree Nielsen, who transforms everyday vegetables into delightful dishes and decadent desserts.

The Latin Kitchen is an upbeat food series that explores Latin recipes and cooking techniques from Mexico, Spain, and Venezuela.

Spencer’s BIG 30 is a fast-paced series featuring healthy, family-style meals made in around 30 minutes, for around US$30.

In other news, Gusto has announced that it is expanding into European territories with OTT service Pluto TV.

The deal will see Gusto’s food programming available to viewers in the UK, and in other European territories. Recently, Pluto TV acquired 75 hours of original content from Gusto Worldwide Media.

Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Pluto TV is the leading free OTT television service in America. Last week, Pluto TV announced that it was rolling out across Europe, launching first in the UK.
