SBS, AMC, TVO vote for The Minister

The Minister was picked up by streamer Topic last month

Broadcasters SBS in Australia, TVO in Canada and AMC Networks International Southern Europe have picked up Icelandic political drama The Minister from Cineflix Rights.

Produced by Sagafilm for RUV in Iceland, DR in Denmark, Norway’s NRK, Sweden’s SVT and YLE in Finland, The Minister (8×60’) follows a populist prime minister whose worsening mental health condition threatens the stability of the government and the lives of those around him.

The deals with SBS, TVO and AMC follow the acquisition of the series by North American streaming service Topic last month.

“We are very pleased with how The Minister has hit home here in Iceland with a large portion of the Icelandic population tuning into the show on Sunday night primetime in linear programming and discussing live on social media while the show is running. Even Icelandic politicians!” said Hilmar Sigurdsson, CEO of Sagafilm and one of the series’ executive producers.
