Sat.1 proposes live Married at First Sight

Redseven Entertainment’s Married at First Sight for Sat.1

German broadcaster Sat.1 will stage the first ever live wedding in the Married at First Sight franchise in November.

The local version of the format, Hochzeit auf den ersten Blick, is produced by Redseven Entertainment, the German production division of Red Arrow Studios.

The format sees two strangers looking for love marry at their first ever meeting. Red Arrow’s Kinetic Content produces the original US version for Lifetime while Red Arrow’s CPL Productions makes a UK version for Channel 4.

Germany is the first of the show’s 29 territories to stage a live wedding, which will be the centrepiece of the season seven premiere on November 4.

Jobst Benthues, CEO of Redseven Entertainment, said: “Live TV is always exciting, but filming two strangers who are meeting and then getting married live on air takes the excitement to a whole new level. I am delighted that we are producing this live special for Sat.1 and hope it becomes a must-see event in Germany.”

Red Arrow Studios International distributes the format and finished tape globally.
