Salto, SBS track down DR’s Cry Wolf

Zurich Film Festival best drama Cry Wolf

French streamer Salto and SBS in Australia are among the buyers to have picked up Danish series Cry Wolf, a detective drama set in the world of social services.

Telefonica in Spain, Belgium’s BETV, Telepool in Germany, M7 in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, RTVS in Slovenia and Poland’s Canal+ have also picked up the eight-part series from distributor DR Sales.

The drama, known locally as Ulven Kommer, tells the intense and emotional story of a teenage girl who has written a vivid school essay detailing her stepfather’s violent behaviour, leading a social worker to separate the family while an investigation takes place. The parents deny the accusations, but who is lying and who is telling the truth?

Cry Wolf was named best TV drama at the Zurich Film Festival ahead of its debut on DR in October. It was also in competition at French television festival Series Mania earlier this year.

Created by Maja Jul Larsen (The Legacy, Borgen), it is the first TV drama from filmmaker Pernille Fischer Christensen (Becoming Astrid).
