S4C shows faith in Un Bore Mercher

Un Bore Mercher was co-commissioned by S4C and the BBC

Welsh broadcaster S4C has greenlit a second season of Un Bore Mercher, the thriller whose English-language version, Keeping Faith, has become a hit for the BBC.

The show’s first season was originally co-commissioned by S4C and the BBC in April last year, with the eight-parter produced in both English and Welsh.

It tells the story of a lawyer, wife and mother fighting to find the truth behind the sudden disappearance of her husband.

The show, which was funded through the Welsh government’s Media Investment Budget, premiered last autumn as Un Bore Mercher on Hinterland broadcaster S4C.

English version Keeping Faith then debuted on BBC1 Wales earlier this year, becoming so popular on VoD service iPlayer – with 9.5 million requests to view – that it is now airing on BBC1 across the UK.

The series was co-written by Matthew Hall (Kavanagh QC) and Anwen Huws (Gwaith Cartref) and is produced by UK-based Vox Pictures, with London-based producer and financier Nevision helping to fund the series.

C21 understands S4C’s commission is dependent on the show also being extended by the BBC, which has not yet confirmed its plans.
