S4C drama steps Out with int’l net

Byw Celwydd (Living a Lie) will air in Welsh with English subtitles

MIPCOM: International LGBT-focused broadcaster OutTV has picked up the latest drama from S4C, the Welsh-language pubcaster behind Hinterland.

Political drama Byw Celwydd (Living a Lie) follows the fictional characters of a rainbow coalition government controlling the Welsh Assembly.

OUT TV will show the series in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Swedish-speaking Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Hungary, Spain, Israel and South Africa.

It will be broadcast in Welsh with English subtitles, having been shopped by Italian distributor Videoplugger.

The series has already aired in the US and Canada after the rights were sold to broadcaster MHz Networks earlier this year.
