S4C content boss steps down

The director of content and broadcasting at Welsh-language pubcaster S4C has announced his decision to step down at the end of the year.

Dafydd Rhys will leave S4C after five years in the role, which has seen him commission series such as dual-language drama Hinterland,
which was exported around the world.

His departure comes as S4C gets to grips with having its government funding slashed by nearly £2m (US$3.02m) during the next four years.

S4C CEO Ian Jones said: “I’m very grateful to Dafydd for his tireless work over the past four years in ensuring high-quality, exciting and varied content for the channel.”
