Russian net fosters miracle tiger

The Miracle Tiger

The Miracle Tiger

A pay TV network in Russia has acquired factual series The Miracle Tiger, which was recently picked up for distribution by UK firm Sky Vision.

U-7 Group in Russia will air the six-part series, which was produced by New Zealand wildlife producer NHNZ in association with Australian theme park Dreamworld. Sky Vision has also sold the Italian pay TV rights for the series to Sky Italia.

It follows the story of a newborn cub at the theme park’s Tiger Island and the efforts of the tiger handlers to act as its mother and help it to grow up healthy.

The Miracle Tiger was initially intended to be a single hour-long natural history special, but dramatic events in the tiger birthing unit led to the decision to turn it into a 6×30′ series.

Dreamworld general manager of life sciences Al Mucci said he hoped the series would help encourage global empathy for tigers as a species and highlight the plight of the big cats in the wild.
