Russia resurrects La Porta Rossa

Russian broadcaster TV3 is to remake supernatural crime thriller La Porta Rossa after striking a deal with French production and distribution giant Studiocanal.

The show will be produced in-house by TV3’s new production arm, 1-2-3 Production, and will be distributed internationally by Studiocanal. The story follows the ghost of a murdered cop who must find his killer before they kill his wife.

The original show was produced by Italy’s Velafilm for Rai Due and aired in February 2017, with an average reach of three million viewers per episode, according to Studiocanal.

It was created by Carlo Lucarelli and Giampiero Rigosi has previously sold to AMC Networks Latin America, M-Net in Africa, Rialto in New Zealand, MTVA in Hungary and Manoto in Iran.

The scripted format deal is the first of its kind for the title and was brokered by Sarah Mottershead, sales executive for Studiocanal’s television distribution.

TV3’s 1-2-3 Production was established in April to create projects for the Russian broadcaster, which is known for mystery and drama programming.
