RTVE, VIS, Onza shoot police drama

Spanish network RTVE, ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) and distributor Onza in Spain have begun filming a police drama in Madrid.

Federico Cuervo

Parot (10×60′) is based on a controversial judicial reform carried out in Spain in 2013 and is written by showrunner Pilar Nadal with Alonso Laporta, Olga Salvador, Mauricio Romero, Luis Murillo and Luis Murillo Arias.

It focuses on the overturning of Spain’s ‘Parot doctrine,’ an amendment that denied people convicted of serious crimes specific rights granted under Spanish law that limited or reduced their maximum term of imprisonment.

This led to the release of almost 100 prisoners. The drama is set in the midst of this chaos and social upheaval, when those released become victims themselves, murdered in the same way their victims were.

It follows an upright and determined police officer who will risk everything to catch the person responsible.

“This deal encourages us to continue developing localised content with a global scope and to deepen the relationship with the VIS EMEA and Asia team in Spain, led by Laura Abril,” said Federico Cuervo, senior VP and head of VIS Americas.

Directed by Gustavo Ron and Rafael Montesinos, Parot’s cast includes Adriana Ugarte, Javier Albalá, Iván Massagué, Blanca Portillo, Patricia Vico, Michel Brown, Nicole Wallace, Antonio Dechent, Marcos Marín, Rodrigo Poison, Nacho Fresneda and Max Mariegues.
