RTL4 gets The Big Picture

MIPCOM: Holland’s RTL4 has become the first foreign channel to pick up Israeli gameshow The Big Picture from Talpa Global.

Talpa Global recently took worldwide distribution rights to the Israeli format, which claims to herald the next generation of connected gameshows. RTL4’s version will debut in early 2015.

“It isn’t a show with an app, it’s a show that is an app,” said Talpa Global’s MD Maarten Meijs.

The show involves giving studio contestants and viewers at home the chance to win US$1m by answering 12 picture-based questions. The studio players are able to seek help from connected viewers playing along in real time on an accompanying app.

The Big Picture was created by Israeli content creation and management company A Cappella and TV host and mentalist Nimrod Harel.
