Broadcasters in Germany and Denmark are to make local versions of a UK format where participants are given a year to transform an element of their lives.

RTL in Germany and TV2 in Denmark have picked up the remake rights to This Time Next Year, which was originally produced by ITV-owned prodco Twofour for its parent company.

ITV Studios’ United Productions will produce the 6×60’ Danish version, while ITV Studios Germany is working on its 4×60’ series.

The primetime studio entertainment series takes ordinary people on a mission to transform an element of their lives, be it losing weight, finding love or becoming a parent.

Once each pledge is made, the participant will leave the studio to begin the challenge, only to reappear transformed just moments later. The presenter will then reveal the year-long journey that got them there.

Australia’s Network Nine is also working on an 8×60’ version of the format.
