Horan, previously director of production and acquisitions, is tasked with leading RTÉ Television’s key international contract negotiations.

Meanwhile, Adrian Lynch has been appointed as interim channel controller for RTÉ2 in addition to his role as channel controller RTÉ1.

It follows yesterday’s announcement that Bill Malone had moved over to become rival channel TV3’s director of programming.

Malone’s switch to TV3 followed the departure of his immediate boss, RTÉ Television MD Killane, who left the broadcaster to lead Eir TV and Eir Sport last month.

Dee Forbes, the newly appointed director general at RTÉ, named their replacements this morning and both roles will be taken up with immediate effect.

Horan has been director of production and acquisitions since 2014 with responsibility for delivery of content to RTÉ1 and RTÉ2, international coproductions, pre-sales and the acquisition of all international programming, including feature films.

Lynch was named RTÉ1 channel controller in the same year, having previously been MD of Irish production company Animo Television.
