RTÉ gets Connected

Irish pubcaster RTÉ has picked up a factual format from Israel’s Armoza Formats for its RTÉ Two channel.

Dublin-based production companies Animo Television and Kite Entertainment are working on an Irish version of Connected to air on RTÉ Two later this year.

The show has previously aired local versions in 10 countries having started on Hot TV in its native Israel where it has aired for five seasons with a sixth already greenlit.

The original version was produced by Koda Communications, taking five people of different ages and giving them a camera to film their daily lives. As the participants film, fast-paced stories emerge.

In Finland MTV3 has aired two seasons and is working on a third and it has also shown on NED3 in the Netherlands, DR2 in Denmark, TV Norge’s Fem channel in Norway, 1+1 in Ukrain, Zee TV in India and Kanal 2 in Estonia where the first season launched last week.

Bill Malone, controller of RTÉ Two since March last year, said: “‘Connected’ is a very exciting and very real docu-series, which fits perfectly with our objective to provide entertaining, provocative, noisy, public service programming targeting 15 to 34 year olds.”
