Veteran executive producer Lori Rothschild Ansaldi has partnered with US-based The Content Group (TCG) to launch a prodco called Big City TV.

TCG is the flagship content collective of Asylum Entertainment Group, whose founder and CEO Steve Michaels struck the deal with Rothschild.

TCG was launched in 2018, before Asylum was formed earlier this year as TCG’s parent company.

Big City has already set up projects with US channels TLC, History and Oxygen, and has partnered with reality star Kim Kardashian West and Brazilian racing driver Tony Kanaan.

Rothschild is well known for her work in the unscripted space, having over two decades of TV experience, with a focus on true crime and historical documentaries. Her credits include Planet Earth (Discovery) and Deadly Wives (A&E).

“Launching Big City with Steve and The Content Group really kick-starts us out of the gate, providing us access to not only an infrastructure but also a team of creative partners to more efficiently bring our slate to series,” said Rothschild.

Michaels added: “As we continue to build our collective, Lori is the perfect example of the kind of partner whose vision we want to both invest in and champion to the fullest extent.”

Last week, Asylum launched drama label Clovis Entertainment, led by Sony Pictures Television Networks executive Derek Stoops.
