Rosario Dawson drama lands on Alibi

Rosario Dawson stars in Briarpatch

UKTV has picked up drama series Briarpatch for crime drama channel Alibi in a deal with NBCUniversal Global Distribution.

The 10-part series is based on the Ross Thomas novel of the same name and stars Rosario Dawson (Marvel’s Daredevil, Sin City) and Jay R Ferguson (The Romanoffs, Mad Men).

Produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Paramount Television, the series aired for a single season on USA Network earlier this year before being cancelled.

It was written for television by Andy Greenwald (Legion), who executive produced the show alongside Mr Robot creator Sam Esmail through his production company Esmail Corp and Chad Hamilton.

The plot follows determined no-nonsense detective Allegra Dill (Rosario Dawson), who returns to her quirky home town after her sister is murdered.

Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night) directed the pilot episode and served as executive producer.
