The Glasgow-based outfit will, according to the duo, “deliver first-class factual and factual entertainment programmes to UK network broadcasters and to the international and digital productions market.”

Rogerson and Harper, as Red Sky’s joint MDs, have appointed Sue Oriel, previously CEO of Firecracker Films and MD of Banijay-owned IWC, to advise on commercial and business affairs.

Red Sky has also hired former BBC exec Ros Homan as head of development. Her credits include Supermarket Secrets for BBC1 as well as BBC2 shows An Hour to Save Your Life and What’s the Right Diet for You?.

Financial support and investment for the new firm comes from Scottish Enterprise, Glasgow City Council as well as Channel 4’s Alpha Fund.

Previously director of commissioning at UKTV, Rogerson’s tenure at the multichannel TV company saw the debut of hits like Dynamo: Magician Impossible, Hairy Bikers Mississippi Adventure and Choccywoccydoodah, as well as the relaunches of Yes, Prime Minister and Red Dwarf. Before UKTV, she was at Mentorn and ITV.

Harper’s recent credits include Slow Train Through Africa with Griff Rhys Jones for ITV, The Inca: Masters of the Clouds for BBC4, and Robbie Coltrane’s Critical Evidence for A+E. He also series-produced the first season of Extreme Fishing With Robson Green.

“As a true independent based in Scotland, we’re able to drive towards our ambition to make standout and entertaining factual content of the highest quality across the UK and internationally,” said Rogerson.

Harper added: “Developing and supporting our team’s individual ambitions will pay dividends when it comes to Red Sky being a trusted supplier for the long term.”
