Robinson takes over at Imira

Sergi Reitg, the founder and CEO of leading Spanish kids’ TV distributor Imira Entertainment, is stepping down after 15 years and will be replaced by former Disney, NBCUniversal and BBC exec Paul Robinson.

Reitg founded the Barcelona-based firm alongside Myriam Ballesteros in 2003 and oversaw its takeover by India’s Toonz Entertainment in late 2014.

Robinson has more than 30 years’ experience in the broadcasting business. He was senior VP of Walt Disney Television International and also founded and was CEO of NBCUniversal-owned KidsCo, which at one point was available in 98 countries and 18 languages.

Since leaving the now defunct KidsCo in 2011, former BBC radio exec Robinson has held roles at A Squared Entertainment, African kids’ channel Zuku Kids and, most recently, Your Family Entertainment in Germany. He also operates his own consultancy, Creative Media Partners.

Among the shows on which Imira is currently working are the second season of Lucky Fred (54×12′) and Mondo Yan (52×12′), which was first revealed at Cartoon Forum in 2013.

According to Imira, Reitg will take a break from the day-to-day demands of running a distribution and coproduction firm before announcing his next move. Prior to Imira, he previously worked at Spanish animation houses Cromosoma and Icon Productions.
