Right move for Compact

Indie rights administrator and distributor Compact Media Group has acquired a fellow UK-based media rights specialist.

Compact says the acquisition of Rights.tv will see the two companies co-exist and offer existing and new media clients “end-to-end solution for business needs.”

The founder of Rights.tv, Andrew Baker, will remain as MD of the company which will relocate to Compact’s London offices.

Rights.tv has appointed Michelle Bruce to work as business affairs director. Previously she worked with TVF International.

Compact CEO John O’Sullivan said: “Rights.tv has a strong track record of providing top business affairs advice for some of the industry’s finest broadcasters, production companies and talent agencies.”

Compact is backed by Lyceum Capital, an independent investment firm that has acquired more than 60 businesses in the UK and internationally over the last 10 years. Lyceum says it plans to invest a further £300m (US$480m) in the UK over the next two to three years.

Rights.tv advises on television development, financing, production and exploitation and has worked for a range of production companies including Darlow Smithson Productions, Pioneer Productions and Wide Eyed Entertainment.
