Fremantle-owned UK producer Talkback has confirmed Jonno Richards as its MD and hired an experienced executive producer for a newly created factual entertainment role.

Richards, upped to director of programmes in 2017, has been acting MD since May when Ed Sleeman left.

Ceri Jones, meanwhile, is joining the firm permanently as head of factual entertainment.

Jones’s credits include The Real Full Monty: Ladies Night and Gone to Pot American Road Trip for ITV. Most recently she has been working with Talkback as executive producer responsible for delivering Harry’s Heroes: The Full English, also for ITV.

Prior to joining Talkback, Richards was creative director at Lola Entertainment, where he oversaw Detectorists for BBC4 and The John Bishop Show for BBC1.

As a freelance producer, he worked across a range of primetime shows including Objective’s John Bishop’s Britain and ITV’s Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

Liam Humphreys, CEO, UK at Fremantle, said: “I’m really pleased to be able to formalise Jonno’s appointment in this crucial role for Talkback. He’s been a real force within the business over the past four years and I couldn’t think of anyone better placed to take Talkback to the next level of creative development.”
