Reelz inks deal for Mibe tattoo doc

The Illustrated Man looks at tattooing’s role in pop culture and fashion

US cablenet Reelz, Fox in Latin America and Sky in New Zealand have picked up a documentary about the fashion for elaborate tattoos from US-based music licensor and distributor Mibe Music.

The Illustrated Man is directed by photographer Sophy Holland and is part of Mibe’s strategy for third-party coproductions and acquisitions in all unscripted and scripted genres.

The doc focuses on the re-imagination of tattoos from stereotypical associations with sailors and criminals into a celebration of mainstream pop culture, fashion trends and social influence.

Fashion icons such as Dave Nvarro and the late Zombie Boy Rico Genest contribute and Reelz will premiere the doc in the US early this autumn.

The Illustrated Man is executive produced by Mike Amoia and Pete Zepina for Mibe. It is distributed by Diane Tripp.

Only four years old, Mibe already houses a library of more than 100,000 songs that spans across 34 genres and a roster of over 2,700 artists worldwide, all composing music for film, television, streaming platforms, commercials, social media and video games.

The library is a music supplier to the unscripted community including partners such as Viacom, Jupiter Entertainment, Blackfin and Glass Entertainment, as well as series such as Ink Masters, Love & Hip Hop, Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge, Southern Charm and Married to Medicine.
