Red Arrow picks up Departure S2

Archie Panjabi and Christopher Plummer in Departure

Red Arrow Studios International has picked up the distribution rights to the second season of Canadian drama series Departure.

Coproduced by Canada’s Shaftesbury and Ireland’s Deadpan Pictures in association with Corus Entertainment, Starlings Television and Red Arrow, Departure is an event series directed by TJ Scott and created by Vincent Shiao.

Season one, which follows the mystery of a passenger plane that goes missing over the Atlantic Ocean, launched on NBCUniversal’s streaming platform Peacock last week and will air in Canada on Global next month. It first premiered on Universal TV in Europe and Africa last year.

Production on season two, which Red Arrow will launch at MipTV next year, is currently underway in Toronto.

The new season will focus on the crash of a high-speed automated train, with Christopher Plummer and Archie Panjabi reprising their roles.
