Red Arrow checks into Harvey House

Red Arrow Studios International is developing a series about Fred Harvey’s Harvey House waitresses with London-based Seven Stories and New Mexico-based Atalaya Productions.

Anand Tucker

Harvey House was a chain of high-class hotels and restaurants founded by Fred Harvey for travellers in the early 1900s along the Santa Fe railroad in New Mexico.

The drama series Harvey Girls is about the young women who worked and lived at the hotels and restaurants and is based on non-fiction book The Harvey Girls: Women who opened the West, written by Lesley Poling-Kempes.

Red Arrow is working with drama production company Seven Stories, which was launched in September 2015 by director/writer/producers Anand Tucker (Red Riding, Indian Summers) and Sharon Maguire (Bridget Jones’s Diary) with the backing of All3Media.

Liz Lake (Riviera, Call the Midwife) will write the screenplay. Sharon Maguire, Anand Tucker and Colleen Woodcock will exec produce for Seven Stories, alongside Giovanni Orlando for Atalaya Productions and Carlo Dusi for Red Arrow.

Santa Fe-based Atalaya Productions previously teamed up with companies such as Scott Free, Propagate, Seven Stories, A&E and Fremantle.
