Raw, Betty join All3Media

Production and distribution group All3Media has acquired two UK production companies from its parent Discovery Communications.

London-based Betty and Raw launched in 2001 and were acquired by Discovery in 2011 and 2014 respectively.

They will now form part of the All3Media Group, which itself was acquired by Discovery Communications and Liberty Global for US$1bn in 2014.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed but the move will see programmes from both prodcos distributed by the group’s sales arm All3Media International.

Raw produces Discovery’s long-running reality show Gold Rush and worked on its factual drama series Harley & the Davidsons.

Betty also produces shows for Discovery, such as Everest Rescue, as well as making a number of Channel 4 series such as The Undateables and Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners.

Jane Turton, All3Media’s CEO, said: “Raw and Betty are both incredibly strong creative businesses with very exciting production and development slates and hugely talented and well respected teams. Acquiring Raw and Betty strengthens our content offering and talent base, in the UK, US and internationally.”

Raw’s founder Dimitri Doganis said: “We’ve enjoyed our relationship with Discovery and very much hope that will continue at the programming level as we look to explore new opportunities and funding models going forward with the team at All3Media.”
