Raven returns to CBBC

CBBC in the UK is bringing back its adventure competition show Raven after an absence of seven years.

Over 2,000 children applied to take part in the new Raven series

The show will see 16 contestants aged between nine and 13 challenged to overcome trials of strength, intelligence and agility during various elimination rounds.

Aisha Toussaint has been cast as Raven, the immortal shape-shifting Scottish warrior who guides the contestants through the challenges. It originally ran on CBBC between 2002 and 2010.

More than 2,000 young people from the UK had applied to take part in the reboot, according to CBBC. The series will return later this year and is produced by BBC Children’s Scotland, with Nick Gunaydin as series producer.

“Raven has always inspired a passionate and loyal following from CBBC fans and it’s clear from the number of children keen to participate in the new series that its enduring and powerful appeal lives on,” said Cheryl Taylor, controller, CBBC.
