Rapinoe to front Quibi sports series

Soon-to-launch shortform video platform Quibi has a commissioned a factual series featuring the “next generation of superstar athletes” presented by Fifa World Cup footballer Megan Rapinoe.

Prodigy (working title) will profile eight athletes aged under 21 who are set to become “the next superstars” in their respective sports.

Rapinoe, captain of the World Cup-winning US women’s national soccer team, will host the series, which is produced by Park Stories and written and edited by Lucas Harger. Lukas Korver and Rand Getlin direct, while Getlin and Janina Pelayo exec produce.

Quibi, the brainchild of former Walt Disney chair Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman, launches in the US on April 6.
