Rainmaker bags Bardel exec for 2D push

Canadian firm Wow! Unlimited Media has appointed an executive from Bardel as director of production and planning at its Rainmaker animation studio.

Greg De Winter, formerly director of production finance at Vancouver-based studio Bardel, will oversee Rainmaker’s continued expansion into 2D animation and original production.

Wow! Unlimited Media was formed last year as a result of a merger between online toon net Frederator Networks, Rainmaker and former DHX Media executive chairman Michael Hirsh’s management firm Ezrin Hirsh Entertainment.

“Rainmaker/Mainframe Studios is known to have set the bar in producing high-quality, cost-effective CG animation and the company intends to do that with its new 2D content development pipeline,” said Michael Hefferon, president of Rainmaker Studios.
