MIPTV: Italian public broadcaster Rai has picked up three seasons of live-action teen drama series Dance Academy and will launch the show later this month.

Three seasons totalling 65 episodes will premiere in Italy on April 22 following the deal between the pubcaster and the show’s Milan-based distributor Atlantyca Entertainment.

Dance Academy follows a small-town teenager as she pursues her dream of becoming a ballet dancer at the National Academy of Dance. Tara and her fellow students push themselves as relationships grow while the teens live with one another in the school’s boarding house.

In addition to the first two-seasons (26×26’), Rai will introduce the third season (13×26’) to Italian fans for the first time with a premiere set for Rai Gulp.

The series was produced by Werner Film Productions in cooperation with German pubcaster ZDF, whose sales arm ZDF Enterprises is the global distributor. Atlantyca is handling sales for Italian-speaking territories.
