Quibi jokes around with Delevingne

Soon-to-launch shortform video platform Quibi has linked up with model, actress and singer Cara Delevingne for an all-female practical joke series.

Delevingne will executive produce and host the as-yet-untitled project, which will be produced by ITV America’s Sirens Media for the streamer.

In each episode, Delevingne and a band of female accomplices will execute a new stunt or practical joke, often putting themselves in unwieldy and unpredictable situations in the process.

“As someone who watches so much content on my phone, this feels like such a perfect partnership,” said Delevingne.

“As far as I know, a series in this space with this level of female guidance and representation, both in front of and behind the camera, is unprecedented,” said Sirens Media president Jessica Sebastian, who serves as executive producer.

Delevingne made her film debut in Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina in 2012 and since then has starred in features such as Luc Besson’s Valerian & the City of a Thousand Planets, DC Comics’ Suicide Squad, Michael Winterbottom’s The Face of an Angel and Matthew Cullen’s London Fields.

This fall, Delevingne made her small screen debut in Amazon’s fantasy drama Carnival Row opposite Orlando Bloom. She is represented by The Lede Company, WME and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.

Quibi, which launches next year, is the brainchild of former Walt Disney Studios chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman. The firm has so far raised US$1bn in funding from investors including Disney, 21st Century Fox, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures Entertainment, WarnerMedia, Liberty Global and China’s Alibaba Group.
