Quibi, Drake adapt 48 Laws of Power

Soon-to-launch US mobile video platform Quibi has ordered a new series, 48 Laws of Power, based on Robert Greene’s New York Times best-selling book of the same name.

The series will detail the nature of power and how one can secure and maintain it, with each episode focusing on a different law of power.

48 Laws of Power will be produced by Canadian rapper Drake’s prodco Dreamcrew, with the famous rapper set to direct an episode and serve as exec producer on the title. Adel ‘Future’ Nur, Robert Greene, Jason Shrier and Zack Hayden also exec produce.

Greene said: “I have always thought that The 48 Laws of Power would be a perfect fit for a series, bringing to life the timeless Machiavellian game of power as portrayed in the book. But it was not until Drake and Future approached me with their unique cinematic approach to the laws that I knew I could join forces with them and go all in for a filmed interpretation of my work.”

Earlier this month, Jeffrey Katzenberg’s Quibi unveiled more details of its April 6 launch, with 50 original shows divided between three categories: movies in chapters; unscripted and docs; and daily essentials, which are five- to six-minute episodes of news and entertainment content.
