Quebecor takes Handmaid, Electric Dreams

The Handmaid’s Tale secured top awards at this year’s Emmys

French-Canadian channels operator Quebecor has acquired broadcast rights to five high-profile scripted shows including The Handmaid’s Tale for its streaming service.

Club Illico, Quebecor’s French-language SVoD platform, will premiere the Hulu original shortly, along with Channel 4’s sci-fi anthology Phillip K Dick’s Electric Dreams, FBI drama Absentia (Masha Productions), NBCUniversal/Matchbox Pictures action-adventure Nowhere Boys and CBS Television Studios/Warner Bros Television military drama Valor.

“These are some of the world’s most highly anticipated series and we’re thrilled to be bringing them to viewers here in Quebec,” said Yann Paquet, Quebecor Content VP of acquisitions and international development.

“In addition to these great series, Quebecor Content is proud to provide Club Illico subscribers the largest selection of French-language programming in Canada, updated weekly – high-calibre fare that includes children’s programmes, documentaries, films and series, including many original productions.”
