Propagate’s Winsanity arrives on Alpha

Winsanity will replace Endemol Shine’s Deal or No Deal on Alpha

Greek commercial broadcaster Alpha TV has secured rights to produce a local version of US-based Propagate’s gameshow format Winsanity.

The show will take the place of Endemol Shine Group’s Deal or No Deal on the Alpha schedule after several seasons, as the net has built a loyal audience for gameshows in the lead-in to primetime.

Winsanity, under the local title Pano Kato, will be presented by Christos Ferentinos, who has been hosting international gameshow formats for Alpha since 2013.

Winsanity sees contestants chosen directly from the audience, who have all been given glowing wristbands. To start the show, the host hits a button to lock in on a random contestant by turning their wristband green.

The goal of the game is to arrange 10 numerical facts in order of largest to smallest based on the quantifier desired, with contestants getting help from followers in the audience.

In Alpha’s version, contestants will have the opportunity to win up to €10,000 daily and an audience member up to €5,000.

The show airs in the US on GSN and is produced by Propagate-owned Electus and Barracuda Television Productions.

In the meantime, Alpha continues to invest in new fiction titles and has confirmed the commissioning of a second original series for the upcoming fall season.

Asteria Stin Ammo (Stars On The Sand) is based on a 2018 novel by Rena Rossi Zairi, adapted by script veteran Rena Rigga and directed by Thodoris Nicolaidis.

The romantic drama will be executive produced by G&N Make It Productions, the Cypriot indie behind Ant1’s international hit drama Brusco and Alpha’s primetime sensation To Tatouaz.

Filming has started and will take place on the Greek island of Rhodes as well as in Cyprus, India and Barcelona. The story follows how “events, coincidences, tests, emotions and unconfessed desires lead the protagonists on parallel lives,” according to the network.
