Propagate, Valhalla adapt podcast

US production outfits Propagate Content and Valhalla Entertainment have partnered to develop an hour-long horror series based on the podcast Lore.

The adaptation is billed as an anthology series exploring the true origins of pop culture’s most legendary horror characters and myths such as vampires, zombies, werewolves, ghosts and witches.

Launched in March 2015 by Aaron Mahnke, the podcast has become one of the fastest-growing in the US, logging more than two million monthly listens.

The news comes weeks after Electus founder Ben Silverman reunited with long-time collaborator Howard T Owens as co-chairman and CEO of A+E Networks-backed Propagate.

Lore will be executive produced by Gale Anne Hurd, Silverman, Owens, Brett-Patrick Jenkins and Aaron Mahnke, who is also the author of supernatural thrillers including Indian Summer, Consumed and Grave Suspicion.

The project was shepherded by Valhalla’s VP of development on the show, Phillip Kobylanski. A broadcaster has yet to be announced.
