Portfolio assembles Pet Robots

Portfolio Entertainment in Canada has partnered with Animal Crackers writer and director Scott Christian Sava to develop one of his graphic novels into an animated comedy.

Portfolio will work with Sava’s Blue Dream Studios to turn Pet Robots into a comedy for six- to nine-year-olds, with Portfolio holding worldwide distribution, licensing and merchandising rights to the series.

The graphic novel follows four students who wander off while on a field trip to a toy company and accidentally activate a group of high-tech robots that follow them home. They then team up with their pet robots to save the world from the toymaker who created them.

“With Pet Robots, Sava has created a rich, vibrant world full of wonderful, comical characters, thrilling adventures and a story with plenty of heart,” said Lisa Olfman, co-founder and CEO of Portfolio Entertainment.

Sava’s forthcoming 3D animated feature film Animal Crackers features the voice talent of John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Ian McKellen, Danny DeVito, Sylvester Stallone and Raven-Symoné. The film is set to have its worldwide release this summer.
