Pop TV, Propagate have Best Intentions

US cablenet Pop TV has ordered an original coming-of-age comedy from American Pie writer Adam Herz and A+E-backed prodco Propagate Content.

Ben Silverman

Best Intentions is being produced for CBS-owned Pop by Propagate, the US prodco set up by Ben Silverman and Howard T Owens, and A+E Studios.

The eight-episode series will go into production at the end of this year and focuses on a kind-hearted but painfully awkward single father who is the guidance counselor at the high school his teenage son currently attends.

The series stars David Fynn (Undateable), Daniel Rashid (Being Frank) and Lindsey Gort (The Carrie Diaries).

Justin Rosenblatt, executive VP of original programming at Pop, said: “Adam Herz made one of the definitive comedy franchises of the 1990s and 2000s with American Pie, and Best Intentions brings together the perfect cast to deliver more of his audacious sense of humour, which is grounded with loads of heart.”

Herz executive produces along with Barry Jossen of A+E Studios and Silverman, Owens and Jay Weisleder of Propagate Content.
