Pop takes easy gameshow

CBS-owned cable network Pop has ordered a gameshow from American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe that puts a new twist on the true-or-false format.

The channel, a joint venture between CBS and Lionsgate, has given a 20-episode order to Easiest Game Show Ever, which goes into production next week.

The format sees pairs of contestants work together to answer true or false to 20 pop-culture ‘facts’ covering entertainment, food, fashion and more for a US$100,000 cash prize.

The series will be hosted by comedian and actor Michael Ian Black, with Barry Poznick (Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?) on board to executive produce alongside Lythgoe, Gail Berman and Eric Levy.
