Pompeii erupts into Germany, UK

MIPTV: German and UK broadcasters have picked up Roman event miniseries Pompeii, adapted from the bestseller by Robert Harris.

The four-hour coproduction has gone to Germany’s ProSiebenSat.1 and UK satcaster Sky TV. The mini is coproduced by Sony Pictures Television, Tandem Communications, Peace Out Productions, Dolphin Entertainment, Leder Productions and Ridley Scott’s TV production outfit Scott Free Television.

The script is by Robert Towne (The Firm Mission: Impossible I and II, and Chinatown), with Rola Bauer, Jonas Bauer, Tim Halkin, Jimmy Miller, Bill O’Dowd, Scott, Judith Verno and David W Zucker as executive producers. The project was first announced this time last year, at MipTV 2010.
