Poland’s nc+ strikes Dumb Dori deal

MIPCOM: Canal+ Group’s Polish pay TV platform nc+ has picked up the original Israeli-language version of crime drama Dumb from production and distribution group Dori Media.

Seasons one and two are due launch on Ale kino+ later this month. Israel’s Dori has also sold the format for remakes in Mexico, Germany and Albania.

Produced by Dori Media Darset for Israeli cable channel HOT, Dumb became the network’s most viewed show since May 2015, with 46% of its subscribers tuning in. The series also scooped Best Drama, Best Actress and Best Script at the Israeli Academy Awards. A third season has been ordered for 2018.

“Polish Canal+ Group is proud to join the international club of Dumb broadcasters,” said Jakub Szurmiej, director of movie channels for nc+.

“Though we have announced a strategy to create more locally produced shows in Poland, we are constantly seeking to be innovative and responsive to audience demand. Dumb represents great storytelling and characters the Polish can relate to.”

Dumb follows a 30-year-old actor who hates her mundane life without friends or direction. When her drug-dealer ex-boyfriend gets arrested and she tries to help him, she becomes a new target of investigation and discovers she’s not so ‘dumb’ after all.
