Poland picks Nordic World formats

MIPCOM: Nordic World has sold four formats into Poland through its recently launched sales hub in Hungary.

Warsaw-based Hotpot Media picked up fact ent weight-loss show U-Turn and cookery reality The Extreme Pop-Up Challenge, both developed by Denmark’s Doceye APS.

It also acquired Craft Master, from Irish prodco Big Mountain Production, which pits skilled crafts apprentices against each other.

Nordic World signed a separate deal with Polish branded entertainment and TV sponsorship company Blue Angels for the Dutch format The Phone from Park Lane.

The property, which has previously been sold into 15 territories, including the US, South Korea and Australia, forms part of the catalogue Nordic World acquired recently from Absolutely Independent.

The deals with HotSpot and Blue Angels were handled by Emese Acs, Nordic World’s director of sales and acquisitions for CEE, CIS, German-speaking territories, Middle East, Turkey, China and Asia, who said they “underlined the Polish media industry’s flair for innovative deal-making.

“Once you have the right people and relationships in place – partners that really understand the DNA of the format and its potential to be spun out across platforms, screens and audiences – finding the right broadcaster is a very much easier step.”

No broadcaster details have been given yet for any of the format pick-ups.
