Pointless deals in France, Netherlands

Dutch public broadcaster AVRO/TROS has commissioned a local version of Endemol Shine Group’s quiz show format Pointless.

The deal is the first adaptation of the format in the Netherlands and AVRO/TROS will air an initial run of 25 episodes this summer.

The series, which originally premiered in the UK on the BBC in 2009, is also set to make a comeback in France where it last aired on France 3 in 2011.

Known locally as Personne n’y avait pensé!, the series will premiere later this month and will once again be hosted by Cyril Feraud.

The format challenges contestants to not only pick one of several correct answers to a question, but also to choose the answer given by the fewest respondents in a survey of 100 people.
