Pocoyo lands VoD, broadcast deals

Pocoyo launched in 2005

International VoD platforms and broadcasters have acquired episodes of Spanish children’s series Pocoyo.

The series, which launched in 2005, will be added to streaming platform Kidoodle.TV this summer in the US, the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

Other recent buyers include French-Canadian broadcaster TFO, HITN’s fledgling SVoD platform Edye and CCTV in China for all three seasons of the show.

Madrid-based Brands & Rights 360 manages Pocoyo’s global broadcast and licensing rights on behalf of the show’s producer, Zinkia Entertainment, on a non-exclusive basis.

Meanwhile, Canada-based Epic Story Media (ESM) handles North America and branding company Reesee manages the property in China.

Additionally, Zinkia has reached agreements with Azteca 7 in Mexico for seasons one to three and Rai Yoyo in Italy for season three, while renewing deals with Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and HBO.

A run of 26×7′ new episodes is currently in production and will be completed for the first quarter of 2020.

“The success of this property is constantly underscored by the viewing data across platforms like YouTube which air Pocoyo to legions of kids and families every day,” saids Ken Faier, president of ESM.

The series follows a curious, fun-loving boy and his friends as they search for challenges, new friends and stories to learn. It first launched in September 2005 in the UK on ITV and has since aired in over 150 countries.
