Platform One teams with Jennifer Fox

LA-based production and distribution studio Platform One Media has signed a first-look deal with Jennifer Fox Productions.

Jennifer Fox

Under the first-look deal, Jennifer Fox Productions – the prodco of producer Jennifer Fox (The Report, Michael Clayton, Nightcrawler) – will work with Boat Rocker-owned Platform One on a feature film and on four TV series.

The film, Ultraluminous, is based on the novel of the same name by Katherine Faw – a nihilistic revenge tale about a high-end sex worker who returns to her hometown of New York City after more than a decade abroad.

Steven Soderbergh (Erin Brockovich) is on board to produce the film alongside Fox, Platform One’s Elisa Ellis and Zev Borow (Lethal Weapon), who brought the book to Platform One. Frankie Shaw (SMILF) is set to write and direct.

The TV projects include a limited series based on Rachel Kushner’s book The Flamethrowers – about a female artist in the 1970s – and a series entitled Runaway, based on French-Canadian drama Fugueuse. Karyn Kusama is attached to both projects as director and exec producer.

Also in the first-look deal are political comedy series En Garde, written by Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten, and a series based on Naomi Novik’s fantasy novel Spinning Silver. Fox and Ellis are set to exec produce all four titles.
