Pigeons & Dragons land at Arte

La Blogothèque Productions’ Pigeons & Dragons will debut on Arte in the new year

CARTOON DIGITAL: Cultural public broadcaster Arte France is gearing up to launch an animated series for young adults from the production arm of French music website La Blogothèque.

Pigeons & Dragons (30×3′), which comes from La Blogothèque Productions and Everybody On Deck, will begin airing on Arte in a late-night slot in the new year.

The stop-motion animated series follows a trio of knights who go on quests against villains and relay their adventures back to their home town by using a medieval version of Twitter called Pigeoning.

La Blogothèque founder Christophe Abric told delegates at Cartoon Digital here in Munich that the producers crowdsourced the designs for the villains from people on the internet.

Abric added that the series will be made available online via Arte’s website in its entirety next month, while episodes will also be offered through Arte’s Facebook page.

The series marks the latest collaboration between the cultural broadcaster and La Blogothèque Productions, which was set up in 2009 to specialise in animation and interactive storytelling.

The La Blogothèque website was founded in 2003 and grew from a music blog into a platform for live sessions from rock and indie bands, created with filmmaker Vincent Moon.
