Peacock adapts McManus novel

Peacock, the fledgling SVoD service from US media giant Comcast, has given a series order to a mystery drama based on a young-adult novel by Karen M McManus.

Adapted from the New York Times Bestselling author’s book of the same name, One of Us is Lying revolves around five high-school students who get sent to detention, with only four making it out alive.

One of Us is Lying is produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group. Darío Madrona will serve as showrunner and exec producer alongside Erica Saleh, who also wrote the pilot.

The series is also exec produced by John Sacchi and Matt Groesch of 5 More Minutes Productions, who developed the pilot.

Madrona has been working in the Spanish TV industry for more than 15 years, having created shows including Netflix’s Elite, the Spanish remake of Life on Mars, Los Protegidos and La Chica de Ayer.

The news follows Peacock’s unveiling of a slate of scripted projects earlier this week.
