Paprika promotes for CEO

Modern Times Group (MTG)’s European production outfit Paprika Latino has promoted its chief operating officer (COO) to CEO as company founder Peter Marschall prepares to leave.

Akos Erdos joined Paprika as COO in 2013, having previously headed up the Origo Film Studios in Hungary.

He is now stepping up to replace Marschall, who founded Paprika in 2004. Marschall is leaving the company, which is part of MTG’s Nice Entertainment, as part of a planned succession process.

Paprika was first established in Romania but is now present in much of Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Costa Rica, where it produces reality formats including Paradise Hotel, Survivor and Are You the One?.

In Europe its homegrown titles include Fish On the Cake, which premiered in Hungary in 2007, while it also acts as a production base for formats including Release the Hounds.

Marschall said: “Paprika has been my total focus and dedication for more than 10 years. I have had the privilege to build and work with some of the most talented teams in the business, and I am really proud of what we have accomplished together.

“I have enjoyed every step of this entrepreneurial success story, and I am sure Paprika and Nice will continue their positive development in the future.”
