What is the biggest issue facing the animation industry right now?
There’s an increase in animation production on a global scale but there are not enough professionals to answer this increase in demand, so it is essential to educate new professionals. Plus, platforms aren’t buying many animated TV series.

What is your company doing in response to this?
We try to educate new professionals, especially in areas such as animatics, layout, production coordination, 2D and 3D animation and post-production. Moreover, we try to have as many women in our team as possible. We are submitting several projects with different styles and targets to platforms, aiming to get their attention.

How do you see the rise of the metaverse impacting animation?
The audience right now is very diverse and has different interests, but the metaverse limits these options and, therefore, the creativity of new content.

How do you work with YouTube Kids and is it a platform that supports high-quality animation producers?
So far, I haven’t worked with YouTube Kids.

Tell us about the project you are pitching at Cartoon Forum.
We will be introducing Firsts (13×11′), an antho¬log¬y series depict¬ing the life sto¬ries of women from around the world who became pio¬neers in fields that were previously reserved for men. With pas¬sion and deter¬mi¬na¬tion, these young women decid¬ed to push the enve¬lope and change the rules to make their dreams come true. By doing so, they became the ‘firsts’ to enter fields such as sports, sci¬ence, the arts and social move-ments.

The show is for kids aged seven and up and the fam¬i¬ly. It presents the sto¬ries of peo-ple who come from dif¬fer¬ent parts of the world and different cul¬tures, and shows what happens when we open the door to those we see as strangers and invite them to dream big and be who¬ev¬er they wish to be. It is a coproduction with Typpo in Chile, and I will co-direct with Bambú Orellana.
