Padmalaya takes UK animation bull by horns

With the ink still drying on its recent deal with Mondo TV, Indian studio Padmalaya Telefilms has bagged a coproduction contract from the UK.

The studio will facilitate production on Mallard Media and Ealing Animation’s new animation series based on the exploits of two Highland bulls, Clootie and Dumpling. The series is being pre-sold in Cannes this week.

Clootie and Dumpling is the second of two major global projects in development at Mallard Media, with several others in pre-production.

The company has a remit to create ‘wholesome, classical material for television for the under-eights.’ It’s first project – about a Scottish sheep called Ophelia has been commissioned for 26 episodes with CBBC for broadcast this year in the UK and Eire.

Clootie and Dumpling, is being developed by producer Richard Randolph at Ealing Animation in London with Padmalaya.
